I’m Back!

91 days of Fall, coming soon! Xoxo

Day 95 - 22 de Septiembre

  • So like a lot of stories in New York, 95 Days of Summer ends on the subway. It might be a silly one but hey, it’s the end!
Day 94 - 21 de Septiembre

  • I thought tonight was the last day of 95 Days of Summer. For the last photo, I wanted something big, new and exciting. I thought of going to this show at The Met, visiting Governor’s Island, or seeing Lady Liberty. This project was not based on planning ahead or anything like that; it was about little, spontaneous  moments. I wanted to take something on the road (i.e., while walking), so I shot this with my iphone over on 9th Avenue before the clock struck midnight, saying  “hi” to my almost neighbors: the Empire State Building and the monumental Post Office. Later I realized that this was not the last night. There is one more day to go.
Day 93 - 20 de Septiembre

  • I won’t come to this place for several months and that makes me a bit sad, but having nice company while watching the sunset always helps to minimize the damage. Last day of Summer? Not really!
Day 92 - 19 de Septiembre

  • Crossing Crusing the Williamsburg bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan. First time doing this, and I’m loving it. Colors here even match my gay bag!
Day 91 - 18 de Septiembre

  • For many people in Manhattan, Fridays and Saturdays are for seeing friends, going to the movies, or simply staying in and reading. It’s not a time for the bars and clubs. And yes, I’m reading this! :)
Day 90 - 17 de Septiembre

I’m covering the New York Film Festival this year and the opening film is The Social Network, which I’m seeing Friday morning. I don’t think it will be my kind of movie, but I am really curious. I’m a fan of Twitter, but you won’t find me on Facebook. If you’re fluent in Spanish and want to know what I think of the film, check out my other baby here. This poster, at the West 4th Street subway station, is one of hundreds around the city.

This definitely could have been one of my 95 Days of Summer moments!

G.P.O.Y. Hooked Addition. This was taken at my favorite gay bar in L.A., The Roosterfish. I’ve spent many drunken nights there. My friend and I stumbled across it 4 years ago after a long day of looking for apartments in the Venice area. The minute I set foot in there, I was HOOKED!  The allure of this place is that it’s one of the oldest gay bars in the country still operating from its original location, and like most things in Venice it hasn’t changed since the 70’s.

Day 89 - 16 de Septiembre

  • Blue lights outside Fuse’s studio, just across from Madison Square Garden, the day a tornado hit Brooklyn and Queens. That night Manhattan seemed lovely and busy, as usual.
Day 88 - 15 de Septiembre

  • It is still hard to understand why the place where the gay rights movement began is so behind compared to the rest of the world. Argentina, Mexico City, Spain, Portugal and many other places are way beyond the Big Apple, and the USA. Let’s hope things change soon.
Day 87 - 14 de Septiembre

  • The red neon light says it all: The Cock. Located on Second Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets, this bar (although in another location) was place to be in the late ’90’s! Everybody has a story about The Cock. I have many, like the time I arrived at 3AM and the DJ was playing Criminal by Fiona Apple; it was an instant invitation to go directly to the dance floor and I took advantage it. Ten years later, as we walked by tonight, the red light was winking at us, but we skipped it.
Day 86 - 13 de Septiembre

  • My New York Fashion Week moment. The model is channeling some Mad Men fashion!
Day 85 - 12 de Septiembre

  • To me, this is the real tribute to the people that died on September 11 and not the media circus that happened yesterday. This scene is just outside the now- deceased St. Vincent’s Hospital, where many of the victims were taken and later died. Nine years later, family and friends are still coming here to honor them, even though it’s no longer a hospital. A great loss.
Day 84 - 11 de Septiembre

  • Nothing better than a street performance celebrating personal expression on September 11.
